Bibbl is a Bible-study app at bibbl.app. This page is written in plain language so you can see what we keep and what we do not. It is not a substitute for legal advice.

What we collect

If you play as a guest, we do not create an account. Our server checks your answers to score them but does not save them to a profile. Your progress stays on this device, and analytics still count the visit (see below).

If you sign up, we store:

  • Your email, and whether you signed in with a password or Google.
  • Your birth year, and sometimes your birth month, to check you are old enough.
  • The study sittings you finish and the days you finished them, once you are logged in.
  • Your gem balance, saved rest days, and a record of each gem you earn or trade. Gems can't be bought.
  • The name, username, and avatar you choose, plus your time zone, daily goal, and email preference.
  • Play history: daily and game scores, XP, streak, league points, achievements, and energy.

Account emails, such as verification links and password resets, are sent through Resend, which receives your email address to deliver them.

The Bible text and the question bank live in our database. Those rows are Scripture and game content, not your personal file.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your information.
  • We do not show ads, and we do not build advertising profiles.
  • We do not let other people read your email or your answers.
  • League boards show the display name and username you chose, plus this week's points.

Analytics and cookies

We measure how the app is used so we can see what breaks and what people finish. Page views go to Vercel Analytics without your name or email. Play and reading events (starting or finishing a daily, game, study sitting, or quiz, opening a page or chapter, sharing a verse) go to Firebase Analytics with a device ID. If you are logged in, they also carry your account ID, so they can be linked to your account, including what you read. They do not include your name or email.

Those tools may set a first-party cookie or a similar ID so a visit can be counted. We do not ask for cookie permission because we are not using that data to advertise to you, and we are not running a third-party ad network. If that changes, we will update this page and ask.

Children

You need to be 13 or older to create an account. If we learn someone under 13 has signed up, we delete that account. If someone tells us they are under 13 during sign-up, we also turn analytics off on that device.

How long we keep it

Your account and play history stay until you delete them, or until we shut the service down. Deleting removes them from our database right away. Analytics records are not removed at that moment and expire under those services' own retention periods. Guest play is not stored on our servers as a profile.

Your account

You can change your name, username, avatar, and sign-in methods in Settings. You can permanently delete your account and play history there too. To get a copy of your data, or with any privacy question, email support@bibbl.app from the email on the account.

Scripture

The reading text is the World English Bible, which is public domain. We import it from eBible.org.
